Alan Harrington

Alan Harrington is a 46-year-old Ojibway man from the Treaty 3 area in North Western Ontario and a survivor of the 60’s scoop. He has been living in Quebec area for the last 15 years, working in the Montreal area. He lives in Kanehsatake with his three children.  

Al has brought powwows to the Montreal Verdun area, as well as Kanehsatake, and helped create the first-ever land acknowledgement in Hawkesbury, Ontario. He is passionate about teaching Indigenous culture, from making hand drums, hoops for hoop dancing and dreamcatchers. He has organized outings on the land and teaches survival skills. An activist for land and water issues, Al organizes events and brings awareness to the causes in hopes that his children will carry on his passion and continue to spread knowledge and awareness.
