Self-taught director and playwright, former artistic director of Montreal’s Espace Libre, Philippe Ducros draws inspiration from his extensive world travels. His multi-award-winning play L’affiche (2009) investigates the occupation of Palestine, which he has visited three times. In 2011 he shone an unforgiving light on the role of Canadian mining companies in the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo with his project La porte du non-retour, a narrated photographic exhibition that toured Canada (including Ottawa) and Europe and was featured at the 2013 Avignon Festival. His latest creation is Bibish de Kinshasa. Philippe Ducros is the artistic director of Productions Hôtel-Motel (Montreal). His plays are published by Lansman Éditeur and L’instant même.
