  Julian Taylor is a Toronto-based, award-winning singer-songwriter, radio host, and label owner. Over the course of his esteemed career, which spans 20-plus years as the leader of Staggered Crossing, Julian Taylor Band, and his solo work, Julian has established himself as one of Canada’s greatest troubadours. His 2020 LP, The Ridge, earned two JUNO Award nominations, along with a pair of Canadian Folk Music Awards for Solo Artist and English Songwriter of the Year, five Native American Music Award nominations, plus a nomination for Canada’s most prestigious music accolade, the Polaris Music Prize. Julian's new album, Beyond the Reservoir, to be released in October 2022 and preceded by the single “S.E.E.D.S,” builds on the soul-folk sound and autobiographical themes first explored on The Ridge.

  From the alt-rock of Staggered Crossing to the rock and roll, funk, pop, and R&B fusion of Julian Taylor Band, and, more recently, the soulful folk of his solo albums, Julian is known for his versatility as a songwriter, singer, and band leader. As well, as a self-managed musician who has handled every facet of his own career, including owning his own label, Howling Turtle, Julian exemplifies the DIY ethic and been a model for other indie artists to follow.

  Établi à Toronto, Julian Tayler est un auteur-compositeur-interprète primé, un animateur de radio et le propriétaire d’une maison de disques. Depuis ses débuts à la tête des groupes Staggered Crossing et Julian Taylor Band jusqu’à sa carrière solo, Julian Taylor s’imposé comme l’un des plus grands troubadours du Canada. Sorti en 2020, son album The Ridge récolte deux nominations aux prix JUNO et aux Prix de musique folk canadienne dans les catégories « Instrumentiste solo de l’année » et « Auteur-compositeur anglophone » et cinq nominations aux Native American Music Awards. Sans oublier, une nomination au plus prestigieux prix de musique au Canada, le prix Polaris. Julian Taylor s’apprête à faire paraître son nouvel album, Beyond the Reservoir, en octobre 2022. Sa sortie est précédée de celle du simple, S.E.E.D.S, aux parfums plus soul et folk qui reprend les trames autobiographiques déjà présentes dans The Ridge.

  En plus de vingt ans de carrière, il a embrassé tous les genres : du rock alternatif avec Staggered Crossing à la fusion rock & roll, funk, pop et R & B du Julian Taylor Band, en passant par le délicat folk de ses albums solos. Il est connu pour sa polyvalence en tant qu’auteur-compositeur-interprète et leader de groupe. Musicien indépendant, il gère sa carrière d’une main de maitre, notamment avec sa propre étiquette, Howling Turtle. Adepte du bidouillage éthique, Julian Taylor est un modèle sur la scène musicale indépendante.

  Featuring Patricia O’Callaghan

  Soprano Patricia O’Callaghan is something of a wandering minstrel, with six solo albums and many interesting collaborations along the way. A speaker of French, Spanish, and German, her early recordings focused on European cabaret, but one of Patricia’s unique talents is the ability to blend a variety of languages and musical genres seamlessly in her concerts, and to completely embody whatever style she is singing at any given moment.

  “This Toronto soprano can sing a 100-year-old German tune so lustily that you almost don’t need a translation to know that someone’s about to get his throat cut or get laid or both” (National Post).

  “O’Callaghan sings her diverse material as if it was always meant to go side-by-side and by the end of the evening, it’s easy to believe” (Chart Attack).

  Patricia has recently become faculty at The Dan School of Drama and Music at Queen’s University, and at The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Evolution: Classical program.

  Her latest album, called Dark Butterflies, with music by David Braid, and with the Prague Epoque Orchestra, will be released this spring.

Ses premiers enregistrements empruntent au style cabaret européen. Parmi la liste des talents singuliers de l’artiste figure cette capacité de marier les langues et les genres musicaux le plus harmonieusement du monde en concert, et de se fondre littéralement dans le style de musique qu’elle est en train d’interpréter.

  Depuis peu, Patricia O’Callaghan enseigne à l’École d’art dramatique et de musique Dan de l’Université Queen et au programme Creativity’s Evolution: Classical du Centre des arts de Banff.

  Dark Butterflies, son dernier album composé par David Braid avec le Prague Epoque Orchestra, est paru au printemps.

  Featuring Jamie Drake

  Jamie Drake is a Toronto-based percussionist, drummer and composer, whose musical interests span from environmental chamber music to Motown, and who has performed everywhere from the Lincoln Centre to a small cafe in Shanghai.  Jamie received his masters degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Toronto.  He has premiered works by composers Christos Hatzis, John Luther Adams and Nicole Lizée and performed with Soundstreams, Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, Esprit Orchestra, Amici, NEXUS and many others. 

  As a member of TorQ Percussion Quartet, has has performed across North America and in Europe, and has been a featured soloist with the Toronto Symphony, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and the Buffalo Philharmonic.  He is percussionist for the renowned Hamilton Children’s Choir, has worked as a percussion composer/consultant for CBC, and taught at Acadia University.  Active in musical theatre, Jamie has played drums/percussion for Mirvish, Musical Stage Company, Soulpepper, Canadian Stage, and Young People’s Theatre for Dora Award-winning productions, and has played drums for numerous singers including Ron Sexsmith, Jackie Richardson, Heather Bambrick and more.  His solo percussion recording “Night” is available on Bandcamp.

  Jamie Drake est un percussionniste, batteur et compositeur qui se démarque par son grand éclectisme musical, allant de la musique de chambre environnementale aux sons de la Motown. Le Torontois s’est produit aux quatre coins du monde, du Lincoln Centre au petit café à Shanghaï. Il possède une maîtrise du Conservatoire de musique de San Francisco et un doctorat en arts musicaux de l’Université de Toronto. Il a interprété en primeur les œuvres de Christos Hatzis, John Luther Adams et Nicole Lizée et s’est produit avec, entre autres, Soundstreams, l’Orchestre symphonique de Kitchener-Waterloo, l’Esprit Orchestra, Amici et NEXUS. 

  Avec le quatuor de percussions TorQ, Jamie Drake a joué partout en Amérique du Nord et en Europe. On a pu l’entendre comme soliste avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Toronto, l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal et l’Orchestre philharmonique de Buffalo. Percussionniste pour le chœur d’enfants primé Hamilton Children's Choir, il met ses talents de compositeur et de consultant au service de la CBC, et enseigne à l’Université Acadia. Très actif dans le monde du théâtre musical, Jamie Drake a joué de la batterie et des percussions pour les productions lauréates d’un prix Dora de Mirvish, de la Musical Stage Company, du Soulpepper Theatre, de la Canadian Stage et du Young People’s Theatre.   Tak Arikushi is a Toronto-based guitarist specializing in the virtuosic guitar style of Gypsy-jazz. His music is inspired by the Romani jazz guitar legend, Django Reinhardt, whose infectious swing rhythms and fiery melodies started a musical tradition that gave birth to some of the most dazzling guitarists of today.

  His most recent ventures explore the intersection of Japanese culture and jazz music, fusing the two to create a sound that is both toe-tapping and introspective. The first single Sakura Swing was featured on CBC radio on national airwaves across several shows. Whether he’s sharing the stage with jazz guitar giant Stephane Wrembel, recording challenging music for a best-selling video game (Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course), or playing for Rush bassist Geddy Lee’s family event, Tak’s talents keeps him in demand both as bandleader and collaborator.

  Établi à Toronto, Tak Arikushi est un guitariste virtuose de jazz manouche. Digne héritier de Django Reinhardt, il a puisé son inspiration dans le répertoire du grand maitre dont le swing et les mélodies enlevées ont donné naissance à une longue tradition musicale et emporté dans leur sillage certains des guitaristes les plus en vue de la planète.

  Flirtant avec la culture japonaise et la musique jazz, il propose un univers musical unique à la fois groovy et introspectif. Son premier simple, Sakura Swing, a été diffusé dans plusieurs émissions nationales de CBC radio. Collaborateur prisé, Tak Arikushi a joué aux côtés du légendaire guitariste de jazz Stéphane Wrembel, enregistré la musique d’un jeu vidéo à succès (Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course) et participé à l’événement familial du bassiste de Rush, Geddy Lee.

  Miranda Mulholland is a JUNO Nominated Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, label owner, artist advocate, and Founder and Artistic Director of the Muskoka Music Festival in Muskoka, Ontario. Her most recent solo release, By Appointment or Chance, was nominated for a JUNO in 2020. Dubbed the “Sweet secret weapon of Canadian Roots Music” by Brad Wheeler at the Globe and Mail, her touring and recording credits include Harrow Fair, Great Lake Swimmers, Bowfire, The Jim Cuddy Band and many, many more. Not limited to band performances, Miranda has appeared in various theatre productions including the Dora winning productions of 'Parfumerie' and New York Times Critic’s Pick, 'Spoon River' with Soulpepper Theatre.

  Over the past five years, Miranda has emerged as one of the world's foremost artist advocates, speaking at the World Intellectual Property Organization, World Trade Organization, a NAFTA negotiating round in Washington, Midem, Canadian Music Week, and was the first music creator to take the podium at the Economic Club of Canada. Miranda was awarded Intellectual Property Champion by the US Chamber of Commerce and was Runner-up to Margaret Atwood for Artist of the Year Award from the Globe and Mail.

  Miranda is Music Canada’s Creative Culture Advisor, the Chair of the Music Canada Advisory Council and is the Vice Chair of the Board of Governors, Massey/Roy Thomson Halls.

  Auteure-compositrice-interprète finaliste aux prix JUNO, Miranda Mulholland est aussi musicienne, propriétaire d’une maison de disques, militante des droits des artistes et fondatrice et directrice artistique du Muskoka Music Festival, à Muskoka, en Ontario. Son plus récent album solo, By Appointment or Chance, a été cité pour un prix JUNO en 2020. Surnommée la « botte secrète de la musique roots canadienne » par Brad Wheeler du Globe and Mail, la Canadienne a tourné et enregistré avec de nombreux artistes comme Harrow Fair, Great Lake Swimmers, Bowfire ou encore The Jim Cuddy Band.   Au cours des cinq dernières années, Miranda Mulholland est devenue l’une des figures de proue du mouvement de défense des droits des artistes. Elle a témoigné auprès de l’Organisation mondiale de la propriété intellectuelle, l’Organisation mondiale du commerce, lors d’une ronde de négociations de l’Accord de libre-échange nord-américain à Washington, au Marché international du disque et de l’édition musicale (MIDEM) et à la Canadian Music Week. Par ailleurs, elle a été la première créatrice de musique invitée à prendre la parole au Economic Club of Canada. Couronnée championne de la propriété intellectuelle par la Chambre de commerce américaine, elle s’est classée derrière Margaret Atwood pour le titre de Meilleur·e artiste de l’année décerné par le Globe and Mail.

  Conseillère en création culturelle pour Music Canada, Miranda Mulholland est à la tête du conseil consultatif de Music Canada. Elle est également la vice-présidente du conseil de direction du Massey Hall et du Roy Thomson Hall.
