Come and hear singer–songwriter Mônica Freire, pioneer of Brazilian music with an electronic twist, at the NAC! After producing two albums (Monica and Monica II) in Japan in the ‘90s, the musician followed up with Bahiatrônica (2005), then collaborated with legendary Brazilian musician and music producer Liminha on Na Laje (2008). In 2024, she released Ilhada, on which she delves into her Syrian and Lebanese roots. Her Brazilian guitar mingles with the sounds of Oriental, African and Brazilian percussion and Oriental string instruments, including the oud, a fusion that testifies to her constant search for balance between tradition and modernity.
