Dennis Ellsworth is a songwriter, performer, sideman, and record producer from Charlottetown, PE, Canada. And in a few months, he will be making his way to the NAC!
Over the years he has collaborated with Josh Finlayson and Andy Maize from Skydiggers, Gord Downie from The Tragically Hip, Joel Plaskett, Leeroy Stagger, Donovan Woods, Rose Cousins, John Smith, and David Barbe.
In 2015 Dennis signed a publishing deal with Cymba Music Publishing in Toronto and has since written songs in a wide variety of styles. His music has appeared in television shows for CBC, Netflix, HBO and was featured in the award-winning film, The New Romantic. His song Warm Flowered Air was featured in a new film called Alice, Darling. Over the years his songs have appeared in many well-known television programs, such as Heartland, Burden of Truth, Northern Rescue, Hudson and Rex, and You Me Her.
Ellsworth has amassed an extensive discography, in a variety of styles. His group Haunted Hearts released two full length albums, he has an album as a duo with Kinley Dowling (Hey Rosetta!), two EP’s and 10 full length solo albums, and a record produced by Joel Plaskett with a new group called The Moneygoround.
His latest solo record, Modern Hope, was recorded at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, produced by Leeroy Stagger, and released on Tonic Records in fall 2023.
He has recently worked with Jim Bryson on a new forthcoming album called, Hardcore Freewheelin’.
