Capital Sessions and the NAC are bringing you a series of FREE community house dance workshops.
Learn basic house dance steps from a different amazing house dancer every time.
You will hear a different talented DJ every time.
It's family and beginner-friendly. The DJ plays deep soulful house music from 1:30 to 3:30 pm and the dancer leads two 30-minute workshops at 1:30 and 2:30 pm. You can just dance, learn or listen and vibe out, it's a beautiful space with amazing music.
The dancer showcases their art, the DJ showcases their art. This is the essence of house! We bring the house club experience to you in broad daylight for all ages.

Sami “Slynks” Elkout is an Ottawa-based bboy and freestyle dancer. He has been significantly involved in the hip-hop arts community through his work with organizations like Blueprint Pathways, the House of PainT Festival, and his dance studio The Flava Factory. He is currently remixing his approach and style to the cypher, with his background in yoga, breath, movement, and dance. He is interested in the intersection of dance as a creative healing tool, and movement as a practice to develop greater mindfulness. You can catch him expanding his work on the dance floor or on the mic mcing more events within his community!
ALAMUSIC is a Canadian DJ based in Ottawa, Ontario known for her funky fusion of various styles of House, including Afro, Deep, Tech, and Disco grooves. As a resident DJ at Afterlight - Ottawa’s underground lounge & listening bar, she's also part of the driving force behind the inception of Beyond City Beats, a fresh new initiative dedicated to nurturing connections and fostering growth within Ottawa's thriving underground dance music community.
ALAMUSIC has been lighting up dance floors at nightclubs and music festivals including most notably White Rabbit, Closer, Solstice, and Dopamine events at City at Night and RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa, as well as the Wiggle Room in Toronto, Why Not Rooftop Patio in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and most recently performed as part of the Modern Agenda Showcase during ADE in Amsterdam.
Her ultimate goal is to make people fall in love with the music and experience the sheer joy of movement. She aims to take listeners on a journey while creating an irresistible urge to dance and inspiring a shared sense of connection on the dance floor.
