NATIONAL ARTS CENTRE’S INSTITUTE FOR ORCHESTRAL STUDIES AND RBC TEAM-UP TO HELP YOUNG MUSICIANS ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS
OTTAWA — The NAC’s Institute for Orchestral Studies (IOS) and RBC Royal Bank are teaming-up to offer highly skilled young musicians increased learning and performance opportunities.
“The NAC is pleased to welcome RBC as Presenting Supporter of the NAC Orchestra’s Institute for Orchestral Studies. This leadership support will help us to continue to give young musicians an unparalleled chance to learn from working orchestral musicians, who will mentor them, as they move forward in their professional careers,” says NAC Foundation CEO, Jayne Watson.
In 2006, Pinchas Zukerman developed the Institute for Orchestral Studies. Now celebrating its 10th season, the IOS has trained more than 56 young artists. The apprentice program serves to maximize the talent of young musicians by providing professional development opportunities, such as: individual coaching sessions, orchestral repertoire study sessions, and mock auditions with members of the NAC Orchestra.
The apprentices enrolled in the IOS are given the opportunity to rehearse and perform in concert alongside the musicians of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. The “side-by-side” experience is one of the unique aspects of the Institute, where students learn from working professionals in the Orchestra who will also serve as mentors, offering feedback, support and advice.
“At RBC, we believe strongly in the power of the arts to enrich our lives and enhance the communities we serve. We are proud to support the NAC’s Institute for Orchestral Studies prepare the next generation of talented musicians – setting them up for success in their pursuit of musical excellence,” says Tina Sarellas, Regional President Ontario North & East, RBC Royal Bank.
The Institute for Orchestral Studies is funded by Presenting Supporter the RBC, with additional support by the NAC’s National Youth and Education Trust and Corus Entertainment. We would like to thank all those who support the Institute for Orchestral Studies.
