JOURNEY FROM PARIS TO BROADWAY IN A NIGHT OF BLOCKBUSTER SONG AND DANCE WITH THE NAC POPS

OTTAWA (Canada) – From April 6-8 revisit the rich and vibrant history of musical theatre as the NAC Orchestra welcomes a host of acclaimed artists for a musical Pops journey through time.

Travel from the Parisian music halls to the neon lights of Broadway with dazzling song and dance performances as legendary Pops conductor Jack Everly leads a program handpicked for the performers joining him onstage in an evening of showstoppers that will stir and delight.

Gracing the From Paris to Broadway stage are:

  • Tony Award winning musical theatre vocalist Louis Pitre,
  • Tap dancing sensations Sean and John Scott of the Las Vegas smash hit ABSINTHE,
  • Husband and wife team, Broadway and Las Vegas vocalist Ron Remke and dancer and showgirl performer Alexandra Remke, both of smash hit Jubilee! and,
  • Ottawa’s premier vocal ensemble The Ewashko Singers.

Everly, the NAC Orchestra’s Principal Pops Conductor, returns with a crowd-pleasing program of classics cultivated specifically with Canada’s first lady of musical theatre Louise Pitre in mind.

“With a stellar cast headed by international musical-theatre chanteuse Louise Pitre, these concerts will be a joyous and affectionate journey through the song, dance and show business that Paris – City of Lights – and the French Musical Halls have given the world.” Jack Everly

Pitre’s riveting vocals and magnetic stage presence will entrance Southam Hall delivering popular favourites from Edith Piaf through toe-tapping Gershwin numbers. Joining Pitre on stage is Everly Pop regular and star of the Broadway and Las Vegas stages, Ron Remke. Known for his powerhouse vocals and crooning tones, Remke is a frequent guest artist with symphonies across North America and was a soloist with the acclaimed 12 Irish Tenors. The powerful vocals of Pitre and Remke guarantee an evening rich in emotional highpoint performances of beloved musical theatre classics.

Showcasing the energy and variety of the era, the NAC is thrilled to welcome rising stars of the dance world tap artists the Scott Brothers and showgirl dancer Alexandra Remke.

The stand-out Scott Brothers have revolutionized tap-dancing; fusing the traditional form to innovative hip-hop style. As sure-footed as they are and nimble, the twin brothers trained from an early age with tap dancing legend Alfred Desario to become heavily in-demand artists. Voted the “Best Dancers in Vegas 2016” the brothers have performed alongside top celebrities including Beyonce and Christina Aquilera. The vitality and charm of these twin tappers is unmissable as, without fail, their performances electrify audiences.

Travel through time from Paris to the Great White Way in the comfort of Southam Hall as there is, after all, “no business like show business”.

Join us on a musical pop journey From Paris to Broadway, April 6th, 7th and 8th. Tickets start at $25 and are available at the NAC Box Office or online at NAC-CNA.ca.
