Eurydice Fragments is a contemporary version of the Orphean myth, depicting the story of Eurydice, a multimedia artist who descends into the depths of her psyche where she uncovers how memories and identity are fragmented, shaped and altered over time by our extended realities and social constructs. Through an immersive exploration of our digital and carbon existences, the performance dissolves the binaries we are bound to from birth until death and strums the threads between heaven and hell, male and female, maker and muse, performer and audience.

This immersive musical-theatrical performance is co-created with a unique team of multidisciplinary singers, dancers, instrumentalists, electroacoustic artists and sound designers. Taking inspiration from diverse musical styles, such as baroque opera, trip hop and newly invented instruments, such as the Lumatone, the story, music and theatre transcend genres.

Company

re:Naissance Opera is a cutting-edge company that pushes the boundaries of opera, fusing the old with the new to create immersive experiences for modern audiences. Founded in 2017 by Debi Wong and located on the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) nations, the company aims to redefine the future of storytelling.

re:Naissance Opera blends technology, culture, and social conscience to take opera from the stage to the digital world and back again.
