featuring Resident Chef Chris Commandant
Enjoy an evening of Indigenous culinary tradition with a three-course dinner created by NAC sous-chef, and Resident Chef (Fall 2024), Chris Commandant.
Chris is Kanien’keha:ka of the Wahta Mohawks First Nations community, located outside of Bala Ontario. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu culinary program, he has spent his 25-year career fusing the traditional food of the Haudenosaunee with modern cooking techniques to create fresh culinary experiences and teaching the next generation.
The word Tionnhehkwen in Kanien’keha:ka means “our sustenance” and captures the idea of gathering around the table to share food and enjoy the time spent with others from the community, especially before ceremonies and celebrations.
Chef Commandant has created an inspired three-course menu using locally and sustainably sourced ingredients to compliment the evening’s dance performance of Homelands (choreographed by Santee Smith) or for anyone looking for an exceptional meal of Indigenous tradition.
We invite you to view the menu and hope you’ll join us for a delectable dinner and unforgettable evening.
